Full course description
Themes in Play focuses on identifying and understanding the recurring symbolic patterns that arise in child-centered play therapy sessions. Learners will explore common themes—such as power, safety, attachment, and loss—and what they may reflect about a child’s experiences and emotional needs. The course emphasizes how to interpret these themes within the context of each child’s unique development and environment, avoiding overgeneralization. Participants will also learn how to effectively translate and communicate these observations to caregivers in a clear, supportive, and developmentally appropriate way. By the end, learners will be better equipped to use play themes as a meaningful tool for insight, connection, and collaborative care.
This is a fully online, asynchronous course. Learner can start at any time and complete the work at their pace. The course has about 2-2.5 hours of work. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the course.
