Course Description

The Certified Prompt Engineer: Foundations course is a self-paced experience designed to give participants a foundational understanding of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), its many applications, and how it may augment our work.

Covering both ChatGPT and Bing Image Creator powered by DALL-E 2, learners will gain skills in writing and refining effective prompts. The course concludes with a brief assessment leading to the Certified Prompt Engineer: Foundations certificate of completion.

This self-paced course offers a mix of video lectures, hands-on exercises, and assessments. Participants are able to work through the course on their own schedule, choosing whether to complete it all at once or in multiple sessions.

About the Faculty

A portrait of Jeffrey Allan. He is a white man wearing a navy blue suit, standing in front of a brick column on a college campus.Jeffrey Allan is the Director of the Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT) at Nazareth. Allan most recently served as chief executive officer of Echo Ridge, a Dartmouth-affiliated company with Silicon Valley roots that he helped found in 2018. Echo Ridge specializes in machine learning to predict legislative outcomes and the impact of new laws on business and society. He simultaneously served as an adjunct professor of psychology at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, New Hampshire. Prior to Echo Ridge, Allan was a founding team member of Lottery.com in San Francisco, where he served as the vice president of business strategy. He also spent a combined 15 years in Asia across Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia working with several large tech companies, including SAP (a global leader in enterprise software) and IBM to drive regional business development efforts across the Asia Pacific. Allan holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in forensic psychology with a specialization in social cognition, both from the University of North Dakota. He is currently a doctoral student in International Business (IB) at Southern New Hampshire University, where he specializes in cross-cultural behavior within the enterprise. He also previously served on active duty as an infantryman with the U.S. Marine Corps.
