The unwavering commitment to helping young children and their families brings many of us fulfillment and joy. Helping others can bring a sense of connection, purpose, and achievement. However, the weight of bearing witness to others pain and suffering can lead to vicarious trauma. The invisible burden of vicarious trauma can take a toll on one’s mental, physical and emotional health. It has an impact on both professional and personal relationships. The essential tool for mitigating vicarious trauma is self-care. Self-care tools are effective in managing stress and building resilience. In this module, participants will actively engage in understanding how vicarious trauma affects them individually and what self-care tools are needed to sustain professional longevity.
